WEDDING FILM GUIDE

The words you say to each other can become the heart of your wedding film. Clear sound takes planning; a camera across the room cannot always capture vows well on its own.

Tell your team where the words will happen

Let your filmmaker know about personal vows, a private letter reading, ceremony readings, and any surprises you want recorded. An unexpected speech can be difficult to capture if microphones are already being moved to another location. Share the ceremony plan early and tell your officiant that a film team will be recording.

Coordinate microphones without making them the focus

Your team may use discreet personal microphones, a connection to the venue sound system, or a combination of recording methods. The exact setup depends on clothing, ceremony rules, equipment, and the location. Ask how audio is planned and what backup approach is available rather than assuming the venue microphone is also recording.

Small choices help the recording

Speak at a natural pace, pause when you become emotional, and avoid covering a microphone with your hand or flowers. Outdoor ceremonies add wind and surrounding noise, so discuss placement with the team. You do not need to perform your vows for the camera; a little preparation lets you stay present while the technical details are handled.

Your planning checklist

  • Share the ceremony script or outline.
  • Flag private vows and letter readings.
  • Ask the venue about sound access and restrictions.
  • Tell the team if any words must remain private.

When you inquire, tell us whether your vows will be public, private, traditional, or personal so we can plan around what matters to you.
