WEDDING FILM GUIDE

Rain changes the logistics of a wedding day, but it does not remove the emotion or the beauty. A useful backup plan gives you choices without asking you to spend the morning watching the forecast.

Choose an indoor option you actually like

Ask your venue where the ceremony, family photographs, and couple portraits would move if weather changes. Look for enough space, a background you enjoy, and access to natural light when available. Check who makes the decision and how early it must be made; a last-minute room change can affect audio setup and guest movement.

Protect the timeline as well as the outfits

Moving people indoors, drying a dress, gathering umbrellas, and changing transportation plans can take extra time. Keep the portrait list manageable and identify a nearby covered location. Your team can suggest options, but no one should feel pressured to stand in unsafe weather just to get a dramatic shot.

Let the day remain your day

A quiet moment under a porch, reflections on the pavement, or guests gathering closer indoors can become part of the atmosphere. If the weather briefly clears, a few relaxed minutes outside may be enough. The film should reflect the day you experienced, not make you feel that the original plan was the only way to have a meaningful wedding.

Your planning checklist

  • Confirm the indoor ceremony location.
  • Ask about covered portrait areas.
  • Plan extra transition time.
  • Keep safety and comfort ahead of a shot list.
